Avera’s commitment to high-quality cancer care resulted in network accreditations from both the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer (COC) and American Society of Clinical Oncology Quality Oncology Practice Initiative (QOPI). These accreditations and certifications verify quality and clinical excellence plus our ongoing dedication to performance improvement — ultimately benefiting patient care.
The American College of Surgeons has only granted 60 integrated network accreditations nationwide. To earn accreditation, a cancer program must meet 34 CoC quality care standards, be evaluated every three years, and maintain levels of excellence in the delivery of comprehensive patient-centered care.
To achieve certification, Avera Cancer Institute had to meet or exceed national quality standards for cancer care. The QOPI Certification Program, LLC, designates Avera Cancer Institute as a large, multi-site practice, which includes the entire Avera Health system and all of our medical oncology and hematology services.
